As international students look toward life after graduation, the Center for International Affairs wants to help them prepare for their job search and career success with a Career Preparation Etiquette Dinner Tuesday, March 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the Thwing Center ballroom.
Job interviews often include a meal with potential colleagues, and many companies ask employees to take clients out for nice dinners. Employers want to know their employees can be professional, even in social situations.
Learning western expectations of politeness can help international students feel more comfortable eating unfamiliar foods, and mastering dining rules can help them feel confident in these challenging situations.
International students who attend the dinner will receive hands-on training from etiquette consultant Catherine Holloway and will be served a three-course meal including soup, a main dish and dessert so they can practice the skills they’re learning.
The price for one ticket is $35. There is a discount available for tickets purchased in groups of five ($5 off each ticket in the group).
Registration is open to international students of all degree levels on the International Student Services’ CampusGroups page.
