Believed to be the oldest continually operating student organization on campus, the Case Men’s Glee Club is very familiar with tradition. In fact, you might hear the group taking part in one Wednesday as it travels across campus to deliver Singing Valentines to students.
In 1897, Case Men’s Glee Club was formed at Case Institute of Technology, one of CWRU’s predecessor schools. Over the last 122 years, the group has brought song to campus, through traditional glee club favorites, renditions of pop, world and gospel music, as well as barbershop-style harmonies. The club performs frequently throughout the year at various campus events including the Fall Harvest Festival, Homecoming, Winter Fest and the group’s biannual concerts.
Just this year, Case Men’s Glee Club joined the Department of Music as a lower voice choral ensemble, meaning members can choose to participate for credit. Though the group was traditionally limited to men, it is now open to gender-inclusive tenor, baritone and bass voices.
Those interested in sending a Singing Valentine can purchase one for $5 at tables in the Tinkham Veale University Center and Nord Hall today (Feb. 11) and tomorrow (Feb. 12)—or until they sell out. The group will deliver the valentines Wednesday from 8:25 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
