Researchers from the Begun Center for Violence Prevention, Research and Education recently published a piece on their work with sexual assault kits..
Senior Research associates Rachel Lovell and Misty Luminais, and Daniel J. Flannery, director of the Begun Center and the Semi J. and Ruth W. Begun Professor, wrote an article with research assistant Maggie McGuire and research associate Laura T. Overman titled “Understanding intimate partner sexual assaults: findings from sexual assault kits.” The piece, published in the Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment and Trauma, explains the results of their investigation of nearly 5,000 previously untested sexual assault kits from Cuyahoga County. Their findings gave insight into serial offenders, victims who knew their attackers and intimate partner sexual assault.
