The University Farm will offer a course titled “Basics of Oyster Mushroom Production” Friday, Jan. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Food Program staff member Matt Burtonshaw, who manages the daily operations of the farm’s oyster mushroom production, will lead this hands-on learning experience. He will cover:
- The economics of growing,
- Growing requirements,
- Equipment,
- Sterilization,
- Potential problems,
- Packaging and
- Harvesting.
Participants will be taught how to make a miniature mushroom bag to take home.
This course costs $50.
