The Social Justice Institute and the Center for Popular Music will host musician and sociologist Corey Dolgon for a lecture Thursday, Oct. 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Clark Hall, Room 206.
Dolgon will give a talk titled “In Search of One Big Union: Folk Songs & Social Movements.”
Focusing on the role that folk songs play in U.S. labor and other social movements, Dolgon will bring both history and theory to life. This singing lecture will include songs from a multicultural perspective and examine the function of folk songs in the struggles for workers’ rights, civil rights, women’s rights, environmental protection and contemporary movements.
This event is free and open to the public.
