Sexual Assault and Violence Educators (SAVE) will host Voices Against Violence, a speak-out event against domestic and intimate partner violence Thursday, Oct. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Thwing Center atrium.
The event aims to empower people to share their experiences with this type of violence and to encourage a community that is more supportive of survivors and knowledgeable of the reality of domestic violence.
At the event, people can come up to the mic and share their personal story, a published piece, a poem, a song or any other spoken word regarding domestic violence. SAVE understands this is a difficult subject to talk about, so participants also have the option to submit their story anonymously through an online form.
Everyone (survivors, friends and the general community) is welcome to attend. In addition, refreshments from Dave’s Cosmic Subs, Panera and more will be available.
