Case Western Reserve University’s Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms, just 20 minutes from campus, offer CWRU students plenty of opportunities to volunteer, learn, conduct research or just enjoy the great outdoors. It also is home to the university’s Farm Food Program, which, with the help of student volunteers, delivers fresh food and herbs to campus dining facilities.
Spend some time getting to know the farm during orientation by signing up for The Green Classroom experience, Friday, Aug. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is available on the New Student Checklist. Transportation to and from the farm will be provided.
Learn about local food and farm practices, renewable energy, green building, conservation, sustainable business, community engagement and more. The day’s activities include a breakfast with faculty, featuring the farm’s harvested produce; small-group discussions with guest experts; and recreation opportunities including hikes, yoga, Frisbee, soccer and more.
