Plan the next steps in your career through a faculty development program

The Office of Faculty Advancement and Postdoctoral Affairs is accepting applications for the annual Mid-Career Mapping program. The objectives of the program are to help participants:

  • Gain clarity about next steps in career development;
  • Understand common challenges of mid-career and develop strategies to address these;
  • Exercise greater leadership in academic units and disciplines; and
  • Build and strengthen working relationships across campus.

To be eligible for the program, individuals must be full-time tenure-track or non-tenure-track faculty members at Case Western Reserve University at the associate or full professor level, or non-tenure-track assistant professors with more than five years in that rank.

The program format includes small group discussions, personal reflection, content presentations, 360-degree feedback, professional coaching and panel discussions. This year, the Mid-Career Mapping program will be delivered over four interactive sessions on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center, Senior Classroom A
  • Monday, Feb. 24, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center, Senior Classroom A
  • Friday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (location to be determined)
  • Thursday, April 24, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. (location to be determined)

Each participant will engage in the ESCI (Emotional and Social Competency Inventory), which is a 360-degree assessment of leadership competencies, collecting feedback from supervisors, peers and others. Two individual professional coaching sessions will be available to each participant through the program.

The program instructors are Diana Bilimoria, the KeyBank Professor and chair of organizational behavior at Weatherhead School of Management, and Susan Freimark, director of faculty development at the School of Medicine.

Apply for the program by Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. Contact facdev@case.edu for more information.
