University Health and Counseling Services will host a Fresh Check Day with support from the Office of Greek Life and the Graduate Student Life Office Friday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kelvin Smith Library Oval. The rain site is the Thwing Center atrium.
Fresh Check Day is a program created by the Jordan Porco Foundation to highlight mental health promotion and suicide prevention on college campuses. The event includes interactive booths, peer-to-peer messaging and support from campus departments and student groups. There will be free food, music and prize giveaways for participants who visit at least five booths and hand in a bingo card.
The Jordan Porco Foundation launched Fresh Check Day to create an approachable and hopeful atmosphere where students are encouraged to discuss mental health. The intention is to build a bridge between students and mental health resources available on campus and in the community.
Volunteers are needed to help with the event; sign up online to participate.
