With rising interest rates and dramatic price increases for daily living expenses, it is useful to learn how to become more financially savvy. The University Wellness Program will offer a Financial Wellness series this fall featuring Karen W. Braun, former professor of accountancy at Weatherhead School of Management.
The series will be composed of 14 sessions open to benefits-eligible faculty and staff members at Case Western Reserve University.
The series will feature the following sessions:
- Aug. 23: “Using Person Budgets to Build Savings”
- Aug. 30: “Investing I: The Nuts and Bolts”
- Sept. 6: “Investing II: Stock Market Investments”
- Sept. 13: “Investing III: Fixed Income and Cash Investments”
- Sept. 20: “What You Should Know About Social Security”
- Sept. 27: “Retirement Savings: Planning for the Golden Years”
- Oct. 4: “Managing Debt: The Good and The Bad”
- Oct. 11: “How to Protect and Improve Your Credit Score”
- Oct. 18: “Debt: Vehicles and Credit Cards”
- Oct. 25: “Estate Planning Essentials”
- Nov. 1: “Making Sense of Health Insurance”
- Nov. 8: “Life and Disability Insurance”
- Nov. 15: “Property, Casualty and Liability Insurance”
- Nov. 29: “The Essentials of Individual Taxation”
There will not be a session Nov. 22 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Participants in CWRU’s Wellness Monthly Incentive Program who attend or view at least seven of these sessions in 2023 will qualify for the Financial Well-Being program incentive, but employees are welcome and encouraged to attend/view as many as they would like.
