Following the success of its 10th anniversary program last year, the Siegal Lifelong Learning Program will hold the second annual Siegal Showcase Wednesday, Aug. 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Landmark Centre Building (25700 Science Park Dr.).
The event will feature five 10-minute lectures by faculty members on a variety of topics. The presentations will be:
- “Raphael Soyer’s Dancing Lesson and Jewish American Art” by Samantha Baskind, Distinguished Professor of Art History at Cleveland State University
- “ChatGPT and the Future of Programming: Is There Still Value in Bootcamps and Becoming an Entry-Level Programmer” by Harold Connamacher, associate chair of the Department of Computer and Data Sciences, the Robert J. Herbold Professor of Transformative Teaching, and associate professor of computer and data sciences Department at CWRU
- “Selling the Old World to the New World: Joseph Duveen and the Transformation of the Art Market in the Early Twentieth Century” by Catherine Scallen, the Andrew W. Mellon Professor Emerita in the Humanities at CWRU
- “The Amazing Expanding Universe” by Glenn Starkman, Distinguished University Professor and co-chair of the Department of Physics at CWRU
- “The Role of Lifelong Learning in the Global Educational Stage” by Paul Zeleza, associate provost and the North Star Distinguished Professor at CWRU
A dessert reception will follow the talks.
The fee to attend is $5 per person.
