Join Siegal Lifelong Learning Wednesday, Dec. 1, at noon for “Ticho House: From Historical Home to Contemporary Gallery,” a free remote lecture about the historical Tico House in Jerusalem. The lecture will be presented by Timna Seligman, curator of the Ticho House Museum since 2009.
The story of the Ticho House begins with a love story about artist Anna Ticho and her husband, Abraham Ticho—their love for each other, and their love for Jerusalem—its people and its landscapes; her love of art and creation, and his dedication to the patients he cared for in his medical clinic. From the 1920s to the 1970s, Anna’s and Abraham’s home was the unofficial cultural center and “salon” of Jerusalem’s artistic and intellectual communities. Upon her passing in 1980, Anna left the house to the curators of the Israel Museum.
During the lecture, Seligman will discuss the history of the Ticho House and how it transformed from an ophthalmological hospital to an art museum. She will talk about the residents of the Ticho House; including Anna, her artwork, and her lasting influence.
This lecture is offered in partnership with the Cleveland Israel Arts Connection program of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.
