Siegal Lifelong Learning Program course to explore whether Judaism is a religion or a people

Are Jews a religion or a people? Some Jews (and non-Jews) believed that Judaism was a modern religion like Protestantism; others thought Judaism was political and national.

Members of the community can explore this question in a course offered by the Siegal Lifelong Learning Program. Titled “Is Judaism A Religion or a Politics?: Being Jewish in the Modern World,” the course will consider this argument as it played out against the momentous changes in political and social life in the past three hundred years.

Taught by David Starr, founder and executive director of TZION and research associate of the Tauber Institute for the Study of European Jewry at Brandeis University, will be held Thursdays from April 22 to May 13 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. ET.
