A four-part live webinar series will bring together researchers, social scientists, clinicians and providers working in various areas of the opioid crisis intervention in Ohio. The Intersecting Pandemics: The Opioid Epidemic & COVID-19 series will explore how COVID-19 is impacting the opioid epidemic and what programs and initiatives are being created to combat the intersection of two public health crises.
The first event in the series, titled “The State of Affairs: COVID-19 and the Opioid Epidemic in Ohio,” will be held Tuesday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to noon ET.
This webinar will examine the opioid overdose data in Ohio since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and highlight interdisciplinary and cohesive public health approaches to mitigating the damage of these intersecting crises. It will feature:
Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Siegal Lifelong Learning Program will co-host the series. It is sponsored by the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services of the Board of Cuyahoga County, Catholic Charities Diocese of Cleveland, Reneé and Kerry Chelm, and the Melissa Rae Fund of Siegal Lifelong Learning at CWRU.
Events in the series are free and open to the community. Continuing Education Unit credit is available for social workers and chemical dependency counselors.
