Physical and emotional stress negatively affect the campus community under normal circumstances. As political turmoil and the pandemic loom large, managing the impact of stress is even more important. Faculty, staff and students are invited to an hour-long webinar to learn the purpose of self-care, skills for shifting their mindset, and practical tips to apply right now to lay the foundation for future habits.
After taking this “Stress Management for Turbulent Times” workshop, participants will be able to define the stress/thought cycle and how to interrupt it. They will determine differences between stress, anxiety and depression, and appropriate responses. They will be able to challenge pessimistic stress narratives and replace them with “realistic optimism” and other response styles. In addition, participants will practice coping strategies to gain perspective, establish boundaries, and increase work/life balance.
“Stress Management for Turbulent Times” will take place Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. via Zoom. Registration is required. Those who cannot attend live are invited to register in order to receive the recording in an email later that day.
