Faculty, staff, students and alumni and their families are invited to the Student Sustainability Council’s 10th annual Farm Harvest Festival at the University Farm Saturday, Sept. 14, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the farm (37125 Fairmount Blvd., Hunting Valley). Guests will have the opportunity to learn about sustainability on both a personal and university-wide level.
This free event will feature hay rides, a petting zoo, beeswax lip balm making, farm tour guided hikes, a tall grass maze, grape tasting, information about solar energy, a cornhole tournament, a badminton tournament, judo, a pumpkin raffle and student performances.
Guests also will be able to make their own flower crown. There will be sustainably sourced food, including Mitchell’s ice cream, and the opportunity to try crickets at a tasting table.
No pets are allowed (only service animals) on the day of the event; pets are allowed at the farm on other days.
Buses will be provided to and from the festival, leaving from Thwing Center at 12:15 p.m., 1:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Return buses to campus will leave when full. The Case Western Reserve University Cycling Club also will bike to the farm; helmets are required.
The University Farm, University Student Government, Division of Student Affairs, Residence Hall Association, Residence Life, Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence, the Staff Advisory Council, Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors and the Department of Nutrition will sponsor the event.
