The Siegal Lifelong Learning Program’s Northeast Ohio Public Policy Forums continue with a discussion titled “Home Rule for NE Ohio Communities.”
Municipal home rule was a critical objective for Cleveland Mayor Tom L. Johnson and his followers, which they successfully included in the Ohio Constitution of 1912.
However, ever since, the Ohio state legislature and Supreme Court have taken local power away in many key policy areas.
This forum will address both sides of this issue and how it relates to Northeast Ohio cities today.
Tom Beres, WKYC-TV emeritus, will moderate the discussion.
This event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Lakewood Public Library Main Branch (15425 Detroit Ave.).
