Counseling services available to university community

Case Western Reserve University would like to remind the campus community of free support and services available to faculty, staff and students.

The Department of Human Resources provides a free program for faculty and staff called EASE (Employee Assistance Service). Provided through the Center for Families and Children, this private and confidential program offers benefits-eligible employees and their families the opportunity to speak with credentialed counseling professionals regarding a range of challenges they may be experiencing. More information about the program is available on the human resources website; those who wish to use its services can call 216.241.3273 or 1.800.521.3273. Calls are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are directed immediately to counseling professionals.

Students, meanwhile, can get walk-in appointments at University Counseling Services, part of University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS). These are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday in Sears Building, Room 220. After hours, students needing urgent mental health care can reach the office’s counselor on call at 216.368.5872 and following the directions to access “Emergency Care.” More information about counselors and services can be found on the office’s website. Those faculty and staff who know of students whom they believe would benefit from speaking with a counselor are encouraged to refer them to the office. In addition to its main telephone number, 216.368.5872, the office can be contacted by email at counseling@case.edu.
