The William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series provides intimate access to the literary world’s best writers. CWRU students are invited to attend the upcoming installment of the William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series, featuring novelist Josh Malerman, Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. ET.
Before he became an acclaimed novelist, Josh Malerman toured the country as the singer/songwriter of the rock band The High Strung. He wrote rough drafts for many of his novels while on tour—but never shopped any of them. It wasn’t until a friend sent some of his writing to contacts in the book business that Malerman became a published author. He is best known for the post-apocalyptic novel Bird Box, which was adapted into a feature film starring Sandra Bullock. Malerman’s other novels include the horror-western Unbury Carol and the dystopian thriller Inspection. His latest is the Bird Box sequel, Malorie.
Malerman will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, as part of the Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Writers Center Stage series. As the academic partner for the series, CWRU students are able to attend this virtual event for free. Students are asked to RSVP on CampusGroups by Oct. 13.
The fall Writers Center Stage season also includes a talk by award-winning novelist Susan Choi Thursday, Nov. 19. Students can get details and RSVP for all events on the University Events CampusGroups page.
The 2020-21 William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series is presented by the Cuyahoga County Public Library Foundation and academic partner, Case Western Reserve University.
