WISER creates conference travel grant program

The Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable (WISER) has created an award program for undergraduate students who want to attend conferences or professional meetings in their area of study. The awards will help offset the cost of travel, lodging, and registration fees. It is not a requirement for students to present at a conference or meeting in order to be eligible.

The Conference Travel Grant Program will support students in need of funding for expenses which are not covered by other CWRU departments. Grants are awarded in amount up to $800 and awardees are required to submit a report summarizing their experiences at the meeting or conference they attend. Applications will be reviewed four times per year, based on the dates of intended travel. The next deadline will be November 15th!

In order to be eligible for the Conference Travel Grant Program, applicants must be a current undergraduate and active WISER member pursuing science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or medicine (STEMM) careers. Active WISER members will have attended at least two WISER meetings or events in the previous semester (as cross-checked with sign-in sheet records). First-year students who have not fulfilled this requirement may be considered based on their current involvement in WISER.
