Darker days and chilly temperatures have you feeling gloomy? Layer up and beat the winter blues by immersing yourself in all that Clevleand has to offer—from ice skating to snow tubing and more, there’s plenty to keep you busy when it’s cold outside. In the weeks leading up to winter break, we’ll share our top winter activity picks on Thursdays.
With the winter season comes the return of one of University Circle’s most popular attractions: The Rink at Wade Oval! As of last weekend, you can lace up your skates for ice skating near campus as you enjoy hot cocoa, seasonal treats and coffee available for purchase.
Less than a five minute walk from Case Western Reserve University and many other Cleveland cultural attractions, the outdoor skating rink’s location makes it easy to build upon your day on the ice. Show your admission wristband from The Rink at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland History Center, and Cleveland Museum of Natural History for $2 off same-day admission.
Famished from skating circles around your friends? You can also bring your wristband to the Cleveland Museum of Art Café for a 10% discount (or choose your own bite to eat from more than 50 restaurants in University Circle).
Ready to hit the ice? Admission is $1 for students ($2 for the general public). You can bring your own skates or rent them for $2 if you’re a student ($3 otherwise).
The Rink is open 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays; noon to 7 p.m. on Saturdays; and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. It will be open daily Dec. 20-31 except for Christmas Day and New Years Day. See the full schedule.
