The 2017-18 William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series will open with Colson Whitehead Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 at the Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center at The Temple – Tifereth Israel.
Whitehead is the author of six novels, including the No. 1 New York Times bestseller The Underground Railroad, for which he received the 2016 National Book Award for Fiction; John Henry Days, for which he received the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award; and Apex Hides the Hurt, for which he received the PEN/Oakland Award. His reviews, essays and fiction have appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, Harper’s and Granta. Whitehead is a past recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship.
The William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series brings the literary world’s best writers to Cleveland. The Cuyahoga County Public Library Foundation and Case Western Reserve University present the 2017-18 series. Funds raised by this series help support Cuyahoga County Public Library.
