The Social Justice Institute will present “Who’s Afraid of Edward Said? The Palestinians and the Stifling of Dissent,” with Ted Steinberg, the Adeline Barry Davee Distinguished Professor of History and professor of law.
This event will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Crawford Hall, Room A13.
“Growing up in the sixties and seventies, I don’t recall hearing anything about Palestinians. It was always Arabs,” explained Steinberg.
Golda Meir herself had said that the Palestinian people “did not exist.”
Steinberg will share his personal journey with respect to this contentious issue, and provide an update on the threats to dissent.
A Q&A session will follow the presentation.
Attendees should bring their lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided.
