The Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities will host a Cleveland Humanities Festival event featuring Allen Thompson, president of the International Society for Environmental Ethics. Thompson will discuss his experience co-editing the Oxford Handbook of Environmental Ethics as well as changes in the field, which was once a small and focused area of applied ethics but has grown to appear in global climate governance.
The event will take place Friday, March 22, from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Kelvin Smith Library, Room LL06.
The lecture will be followed by an open discussion about the role of environmental ethics as society stands on the cusp of a new planetary epoch with deep uncertainties about the future of life on Earth.
This event is free and open to the public.
