“What’s Good for the Planet is Good for Patients: Hot Topics in Pediatric Environmental Health Advocacy”

The Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health will host a virtual September Seminar Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 9 to 10 a.m. Aparna Bole, assistant professor of general pediatrics and adolescent medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, will present the seminar, titled “What’s Good for the Planet is Good for Patients: Hot Topics in Pediatric Environmental Health Advocacy.”

Bole’s lecture will inform the audience about efforts to build close partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to enhance the well-being of patients and families at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and MacDonald Women’s Hospital, while supporting innovation in women’s and pediatric primary care delivery particularly at the intersection between environmental sustainability and pediatric public health.

Bole is medical director of community integration at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and an associate professor of pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She leads efforts to build close partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to enhance the well-being of patients and families at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and MacDonald Women’s Hospital, and supports innovation in women’s and pediatric primary care delivery. Bole serves as chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Environmental Health, on the board of Healthcare Without Harm (as co-chair), and is a founding advisory council member of the Ohio Clinicians for Climate Action.
