Washington Center for Equitable Growth:  Scott Shane, the A. Malachi Mixon III Professor of Entrepreneurial Studies; Susan Helper, the Frank Tracy Carlton Professor of Economics; and David Clingingsmith, an associate professor of economics—all at the Weatherhead School of Management—analyzed the need for federal intervention over COVID-19, writing that the virus “presents the gravest threat in generations to the health and well-being of Americans. … To address this, President Trump must appoint a COVID-19 czar to use federal powers to direct the production of [needed medical supplies] … which help prevent cross-contamination.”
