Impact of Ohtani’s record-breaking contract on smaller market teams
Spectrum News: Jonathan Ernest, assistant professor of economics at Weatherhead School of Management, weighed in on professional baseball player Shohei Ohtani’s new record-breaking contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. “The contract has kind of made some waves because it had the headline figure of $700 million over 10 years, which is $70 million per year,” Ernest said. “But, he’s essentially deferred all but $2 million per year to be paid out after the 10 years.”
