Weatherhead’s Jonathan Ernest examines JM Smucker’s acquisition of snack company Hostess

Hostess being acquired by Orrville-based JM Smucker
WKYC: Jonathan Ernest, assistant professor of economics at Weatherhead School of Management, discussed Ohio-based Fortune 500 company JM Smucker’s acquisition of popular snack company Hostess for $5.6 billion. He noted that it’s not out of the question that jobs could be lost as a result of the deal. “Maybe some of those other positions that are repetitive or redundant between the two companies, maybe in their corporate headquarters, might be slimmed down or eliminated,” he said.
