Tariff fallout: Ohio lawmakers, manufacturers react to economic shift
WKYCJonathan Ernest, assistant professor of economics at Weatherhead School of Management, explained how tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China could drive up consumer prices and hurt overall economic welfare. “It’s a net negative, decreasing trade and shrinking the pie overall,” he said, adding that while steelmakers may benefit, Ohio farmers could suffer from retaliation.
