Weatherhead Tax Assistance Program to help eligible residents with filing

The Weatherhead Tax Assistance Program will help Cuyahoga County residents with an income of $49,000 or less prepare basic federal and state income tax returns. The program provides electronic filing of returns prepared by volunteers who are IRS-trained and certified.

Appointments can be scheduled online or by email for Feb. 10 and 24, March 2, 23 and 30 and April 6, from noon to 5 p.m. each day. The program will be held at Weatherhead School of Management.

The site can file for those who received a 1099-C, but cannot file amended returns or prior year returns. If filing jointly, both individuals must be present in order to e-file, otherwise a paper form will be available to take home and sign. A parent may file for a minor child.

Interested persons should bring the following:

  • Photo ID
  • W-2 forms for all wages earned in 2011, 1098, 1099, 1042-S, 8233 or W-9 forms
  • Social Security card, SSN statement or SSA-109 or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) for all listed on return
  • Birth dates for all listed on the return
  • Copy of last year’s federal and state returns
  • Documentation of total paid for child care and child care provider’s Social Security or Employer ID number
  • Any other relevant tax information about income and expenses including any correspondence received from the IRS in 2011
  • Bank account number and bank’s routing number for e-file direct deposit
  • Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) (listed on prior return or can get from IRS).
