Lucille S. Mayne, emerita professor of banking and finance at the Weatherhead School of Management, passed away Nov. 26 at age 88.
Until her retirement in 1994, Mayne taught at Case Western Reserve University for 23 years in the areas of financial institutions, financial management and money and capital markets. Mayne also was recognized as a pioneer, acting as CWRU’s first female dean of graduate studies and first tenured female professor at the Weatherhead School of Management.
Mayne was a member of the editorial board of several journals in banking and finance, recognized by Who’s Who, active with the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and a member of several corporate boards. She also served on the boards of The Women’s Community Foundation and The League of Women Voters and volunteered at the Cleveland Society for the Blind and the Benjamin Rose Institute.
Mayne was an active swimmer, inquiring academic, enthusiastic volunteer and loving parent and grandparent.
She is survived by her children Pat, Christine and Barbara, two grandchildren Lauren and Ethan, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be sent to a preferred charity in her name.
