Economy affects trash, increased recycling also cuts into landfill dumping

The Plain Dealer: Cuyahoga County residents are throwing away far less trash than they did a decade ago, which can be partially connected to the weak economy. “You throw away less when the economy is not good,” Director of Sustainability Stephanie Corbett said, noting that if there is concern about losing a job, a person might hold on to things that don’t work well rather than throwing them out and buying brand new.
