Voting opens today to win orchard for University Farm

Voting begins today for Edy’s Communities Take Root contest. Each vote could help Case Western Reserve University’s Farm Food Program plant an orchard of blueberry and berry bushes and fruit trees at its Hunting Valley farms, which, in turn, could supply more fresh fruit to the Bon Appétit kitchens on campus.

The first five winners will be announced on May 30, with four additional winners chosen on July 2, July 31 and Aug. 30 (for a total of 17 communities who will receive a fruit orchard).

People of all ages are invited to cast one vote per day from April 16 through Aug. 29 by visiting www.CommunitiesTakeRoot.com.

The 17 locations with the most votes will win a fruit orchard provided by Edy’s Fruit Bars and planted by the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. More than 100 organizations are participating in Communities Take Root this year, so it will be tough competition. Bookmark www.CommunitiesTakeRoot.com now and vote daily to help Case Western Reserve University’s farm grow.
