Volunteer at STEM events for elementary and high school students

The Leonard Gelfand STEM Center needs volunteers to manage and support various events for the Northeast Ohio Regional Science Olympiad and for the Elementary School Science Olympiad.

The Northeast Ohio Regional Science Olympiad will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, and the Elementary School Science Olympiad will be held Saturday, March 4.

Volunteer tasks include:

  • Administering and/or proctoring written events;
  • Managing and evaluating hands-on competitions;
  • Recording competition results in a scoring center;
  • Tending to registration tables for arriving teams;
  • Checking in event captains and volunteers;
  • Managing event supplies;
  • Distributing awards at closing ceremonies;
  • Taking candid photos of events; and
  • Creating program slides.

Skills required include the ability to interact with K-12 students, teachers and parents, and having a strong interest in supporting events in science technology, engineering and math.

A minimum of two hours of service is requested.

Lunch and T-shirts will be available for registered volunteers.
