Continuing the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities’ “Interpreting Capitalism Film Series,” the award-winning film Last Train Home will be screened Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. in the Wolstein Research Building auditorium.
Wendy Fu, assistant professor of history, will introduce and discuss the film, in which the filmmaker travels with one couple from among the 130 million migrant workers on a journey to their home villages for the Chinese New Year’s holiday. The couple has made this annual trek for nearly 20 years. Along the way, the film captures the human cost of China’s ascendance as an economic superpower.
Online registration is recommended for this free, public event with limited seating.
