[U]Tech upgrades VPN system from Cisco AnyConnect to Fortinet VPN

Whenever connecting to the university network from a public network, Case Western Reserve University community members should use the Virtual Private Network (VPN) for security and encryption. VPN is required when accessing certain university resources, such as the University Technology ([U]Tech) Software Center, select library tools and off-campus databases.

Installation of client software is needed to enable the VPN connection. [U]Tech is upgrading the current VPN system from Cisco AnyConnect to Fortinet VPN to deliver a more reliable and compatible connection for users. For instructions to download FortiClient, visit case.edu/utech/help/forticlient-vpn.

Those using Cisco AnyConnect are encouraged to download and begin to use Forticlient instead. AnyConnect will be available through the end of the calendar year, but beginning January 2020, Forticlinet is the only VPN client individuals will be able to use to access the university network.
