[U]Tech announces access change for remote desktop protocol

In the ongoing effort to secure university data and systems against intrusion and unauthorized access, University Technology ([U]Tech) is making a change that affects use of RDP or “remote desktop protocol.”

Beginning today (Dec. 10), access to computer systems on the university network via RDP will be permitted from off-campus only through the use of Virtual Private Network (VPN). This will ensure that two-factor authentication is performed for such access. This change is being made to reduce the risk of data loss or exposure and is being done in alignment with cyber security best practices.
