The President’s Committee on Child Care Options (PCCCO) is building on the success of two spring break pilot programs by sponsoring a winter break program for children of Case Western Reserve faculty, staff and students. The university is partnering with the Mandel Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Beachwood to provide a la carte daily options in late December and early January.
As part of the arrangement, the university is providing bus transportation from campus to the Mandel JCC in the morning and back to campus in the evening. In addition, the university is providing financial assistance to families with household incomes of $50,000 or less.
“Thanks to President Snyder’s generous support, our Spring Break pilot programs were able to provide invaluable opportunities for members of the university community,” said Robson Assistant Professor of Anthropology Eileen Anderson-Fye, chair of the PCCCO. “We are grateful to both President Snyder and the Mandel JCC that we are able to offer this additional program.”
The Mandel JCC offers eight days of programs from Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, including sports camps, field trips and theme days. Children can participate in parts of days or individual days, or all of the available windows.
Information about the program and registration can be found in the online winter vacation camp brochure.
Family with questions about financial assistance and their eligibility can contact Human Resources Manager Amy Sheldon at amy.sheldon@case.edu or 216.368.5000.
The university also is exploring additional programs for children in 2014, including President’s Day and spring break offerings. Additional information about these programs will be available in early 2014.
