Case Western Reserve University administrative offices will close at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27, as part of our Appreciative Time Off Policy’s holiday early dismissal for staff members.
Please note the following:
- All administrative offices must maintain coverage until 3 p.m. Wednesday.
- Any employee wishing to leave before 3 p.m. must use vacation time in whole- or half-day increments.
- Non-exempt employees who are unable to leave early because of the nature of their responsibilities may take off two alternate hours during the week of Nov. 25—or, if their supervisor prefers, receive two hours of overtime pay.
- Employees who call off sick or have taken a vacation day Nov. 27 must take a full sick or vacation day.
- University offices also are closed Thanksgiving Day and the following day (Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29).
In addition, Case Western Reserve University President Eric W. Kaler shared last month that winter recess will be extended by an additional day. Winter recess now will take place Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, through Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025—a one-time extension based on this year’s calendar that left Monday alone in a work week. Please note:
- Based on the nature of duties and/or unexpected developments, some offices will need to remain open Dec. 23, 26, 27 and/or 30. Non-exempt staff who work on campus during winter recess will be paid time and one-half and will receive equivalent paid time off on a later date.
- If operational demands require exempt employees to be present on campus for a significant amount of time, the possibility of alternative time off will be determined by their supervisors.
