University librarian Arnold Hirshon weighs in on how library could use $5M gift

Case Western Reserve University’s library receives $5 million gift

The Plain Dealer: Kelvin Smith Library received a $5 million gift from a donor who wished to remain anonymous, marking the single largest gift in the library’s history. The funds will be used to buy books and journals, update facilities and increase commitment to digital scholarship, said Arnold Hirshon, associate provost and university librarian. “Books and journals are still the foundation of any great academic library—whether in electronic form or print,” he said.
