Undergraduate Spoken English Tutoring Program tutors needed

Spoken English Language Programs (SELP) in the School of Graduate Studies is looking for undergraduate students to fill multiple paid positions as Spoken English Tutoring Program tutors for summer and fall, 2024. Tutors meet one-on-one online or in-person in thirty- or sixty-minute blocks with CWRU international undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and scholars. Tutors will help students and scholars prepare for presentations, interviews, and other formal and informal speaking situations, and practice aspects of pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, idioms, or general English language practice.

SELP Tutors need to have native or high-level English-language proficiency and demonstrate familiarity with US academic and social cultures. Tutors must be able to offer consistent blocks of time throughout the semester. Tutors work 5 – 10 hours per week for 13 weeks during the semester. Except for paid meetings and trainings, the amount of work each week is contingent on tutor/tutee usage. Work is scheduled at the employees’ convenience during the week. Experience in tutoring, language learning, or language teaching is highly valued but not required. Tutors will be trained in effective communication with international students and visitors.

Please contact Eric Moore, SELP Director, at selp@case.edu if interested, or for more information.
