Undergraduate June Chen places first at 2019 JASCO Japanese Speech Contest

June Chen, an undergraduate student in Intermediate Japanese II, won the first-place prize at the 2019 Japan-America Society of Central Ohio (JASCO) Japanese Speech Contest, held at Dublin Integrated Education Center, near Columbus, Ohio.

The speech contest is held annually by JASCO, and to celebrate its 20th anniversary this year, the first-place winner of each category (high school, college and advanced level) received a $2,000 voucher for a round-trip ticket to Japan sponsored by the Nissin Travel Service USA.

Chen’s speech was titled “My Biggest Fear” and discussed her fear of public speaking. She will visit Japan for the first time using her prize money.
