The event marks 25 years of St. Baldrick’s raising funds and awareness for childhood cancer.
On Friday, March 7, the Trisha O’Brien Pavilion at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital will transform into a hub of courage and community as dozens of brave individuals come together to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research.
Doctors, nurses, researchers, patients, family members, and friends will participate in the 14th annual St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event, with many choosing to shave their heads or spray their hair green in solidarity with children battling cancer.
This year’s event holds special significance, marking the 25th anniversary of St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the world’s largest volunteer-driven organization dedicated to funding childhood cancer research. Since its inception, UH Rainbow’s “Shave it off” event has raised more than $1 million for St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
The funds raised at this year’s event will continue to support critical cancer research. Through St. Baldrick’s grants, experts at the Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute at UH Rainbow, UH Seidman Cancer Center, and Case Western Reserve University have made significant strides in advancing treatment options for children and young adults diagnosed with cancer.
