UCITE Session: Using concept mapping to assist students in reading difficult texts

The ability to understand and analyze scholarly texts and journal articles is a critical skill for students to obtain. However, many students have difficulty in reading and understanding this material.

At the next University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education session, Dianne Kube, lecturer of biology, will illustrate how she uses concept mapping in her courses to assist students in reading and understanding technical materials.

This session will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Allen Memorial Medical Library’s Herrick Room (use Adelbert Road doors).

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop to this event.

Pizza and sodas will be provided at this session.
