The typical criteria for tenure and promotion are scholarship, teaching and service. All universities subscribe to this criteria, but how these terms are interpreted can vary from institution to institution, school to school, and even department to department.
At the next UCITE session, attendees will learn how these terms are applied and measured at Case Western Reserve University. The session will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Herrick Room of the Allen Memorial Medical Library building. This session is geared toward faculty members who are tenured, on the tenure track or anticipate a tenure-track position some day.
Provost William “Bud” Baeslack, Deputy Provost Lynn Singer, Susan Karaba and Lois Langell will attend this session to share what the university is looking for, how to prepare a case for tenure and to answer questions.
