How can we enhance the experience of undergraduate students at Case Western Reserve University? What roles can faculty play in this process? The launch of the Student Success Initiative this fall has brought together existing resources (Post-Graduate Planning and Experiential Education, First-Year Experience and Family Programs and Academic Resources) and introduced a new resource (Student Advancement) with the goal of better supporting students throughout their time at CWRU.
Faculty members are critical partners in this endeavor, but many may be unfamiliar with the changes and the newly available opportunities for students.
This week’s University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education session will offer faculty the chance to learn about the various functions of each office in order to collaborate and connect their students with appropriate resources.
Thomas Matthews, interim associate provost of student success, will provide an overview of the initiative. Directors Michael Mason (Student Advancement), Drew Poppleton (Post Graduate Planning and Experiential Education) and Edwin Mayes (First-Year Experience and Family Programs) will speak to their respective areas.
There also will be time for questions and discussion.
This session will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. in the Allen Memorial Medical Library’s Herrick Room.
A pizza lunch will be provided. RSVP to ucite@case.edu.
