Faculty, future faculty, and educators of all kinds are invited to join the University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE) First Friday event, “Using Self-Reflection to Improve Your Teaching and Student Learning” on April 7, 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m., in the Herrick Room of the Allen Memorial Medical Library. Vicki Daniel, instructor in the Department of History, and Matthew Smith, assistant director of faculty advancement, will lead participants in dialogue to provide insight toward a better understanding of self-reflection practices.
Practicing self-reflection as an educator allows for both immediate and longitudinal improvements to our teaching materials, actions, self-awareness and emotional intelligence inside the classroom and beyond. Self-reflection affirms our areas of strength while providing opportunities to better understand our challenges, the needs of our students, and how to better leverage the strengths of everyone in the learning process.
