“U.S. Intervention in Venezuela and Colombia”

As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Social Justice Institute will host an event titled “U.S. Intervention in Venezuela and Colombia” today (Oct. 3) from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center Senior Classroom.

Gloria La Riva, a longtime Latin American analyst and activist, will share video clips of her recent tour of Venezuela and discuss the unfolding developments in U.S.-Venezuela relations.

The U.S. government has both blamed President Maduro of human rights violations and imposed sanctions that have blocked virtually all aid from reaching the country. Colombia’s new president is also playing a pivotal role in the crisis. La Riva and labor organizer Gabriel Murcia (CWR ‘18) will lead a conversation about the two countries and the impact of U.S. intervention.

This event is free and open to the community. A light dinner will be served. RSVP to socialjustice@case.edu.
