Jes Sellers, director of University Counseling Services, and Jane Daroff, a social worker with University Counseling Services, received the Greater Good Award from the Ohio Psychological Association for their work with families and members of the LGBTQ community.
Nearly 30 years ago, they co-founded the Cleveland chapter of PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians And Gays), an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization aiming to facilitate a dialogue about sexuality and acceptance among members of the community.
“We help families to know that it’s OK to be gay or to have a gay child,” Daroff said in an interview for the award.
