School of Medicine researchers present work on disparities in outpatient dermatological care

Medical students Raghav Tripathi and Konrad D. Knusel and Associate Professor Jeremy S. Bordeaux presented their research at the International Investigative Dermatology Conference in Orlando, Florida.

Their work, titled “Disparities in outpatient dermatologic health care access and utilization in the United States,” investigated variation in the use of outpatient dermatologic care in the United States. Their research found that Black and Latinx patients were less likely to receive outpatient dermatologic care than White patients.

Additionally, patients who were Midwestern, male, uninsured, from a lower income group, with a lower educational level or covered by Medicaid/Medicare were less likely to receive outpatient dermatologic care.
